As a Chinese woman born and raised in Vietnam and an immigrant to both Taiwan and the U.S., Mandy Judy worked in the restaurant industry wherever she went. Her extensive experience in kitchens all over the world gave her a passion for creating beautiful, home-grown dishes inspired by authentic Chinese cuisine infused with flavors she’s found in her travels.

For Mandy, having a hand in the production of the food she creates is a must. Mandy and her husband Allen own and operate their mushroom farm in Macon County, MO, and they are proud to bring quality, locally sourced mushrooms to the dishes served at Mandy’s Bamboo Kitchen. You can find their enchanting selection of mushrooms at the Columbia Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning.

Opening a restaurant wasn’t always Mandy’s goal. At first, she wanted a kitchen where she could play with flavors and spoil her loved ones. However, the building and design process, completed by Allen himself, brought about an inspiring opportunity: to open a restaurant that was different from anything around them.

You're likely familiar with Chinese restaurants in the Midwest. While delicious and deserving of praise in their own right, it can be easy to confuse authentic with Americanized. Mandy, a traditional Chinese chef, is thrilled to bring a new kind of Asian-inspired cuisine to Excello, MO and the surrounding mid-Missouri communities.

By designing the restaurant to be an event rather than a sit, dine and go experience, Mandy is curating not only some of the most exciting dishes in the area, but she is fostering a deeper community. At Mandy’s Bamboo Kitchen, you will sit down to dinner with seven or more of your nearest and dearest.
